Erin Doty

Erin Doty was born April 17, 1984 in Sacramento California. She pursued an education in art practices at in early age, exploring different mediums and styles. Attended schools such as Oxbow School of the Arts, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and California College of the Arts and Crafts. Doty's style can be described as American Modern Folk Art with a blend of Modern Primitive influence that is readily apparent taking indirect cues from greats such as Jean Dubuffet, Van Gogh and Bill Traylor. However Doty's art stands on it's own being extremely original and no artist is of direct comparison.

Her pallet has rich browns and faded and aged earth colors. With a vast use of mixed mediums her work gives way to creations that remain indecipherable by the human eye. Her artworks have a historical Colonial-American quality, that of something from a different time.
